Chris and I could not get enough of each other. We spent as much time together as we could. Any free time we had; we were together. Weekends, nights after work and school, literally anytime we could get. A few weeks after we made it “official” we went to Seattle for my birthday, we bought City passes, booked a hotel and spent the entire weekend of my birthday 2018 in Seattle, this weekend was MAGICAL. I took that Friday off work to get ready and pack. When Chris got off work I went and picked him up and we headed on our way since Seattle is a three hour drive from Portland.
Our trip up was so much fun, karaoke, jokes, long talks. It was just great. I never ever got bored talking to this man, not even almost 2 years later. WE always had good conversation, he was always the best person to vent to, to let go of all the stresses of the week and work to. He listened to everything, and when I say listen, he ACTUALLY listened. I could tell him a whole story, then ask him what I said and he could tell me legit word for word. When I tell you I fell head over heels for this man, I fell HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE YA’LL.
When we arrived, we got everything up to our room and got settled. Then went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner (one of our fave places). After dinner We went back to the hotel, had a quiet night in.
(Right before dinner at the Cheesecake Factory)
The next morning we got up early to start our adventures in Seattle! On our agenda we had The Space Needle of course! Museum of Pop culture. Pacific Science Center. Seattle Aquarium. And the Argosy Cruises Harbor Tour. So much to do in two short days! I know I know, but the cost of the city pass was totally worth it versus paying for even three or four of the attractions at full price and we all know how I like a deal.
(Chris & I after the Aquarium on the dock!)
We stayed at Hotel 116 in Bellevue, amazing place! Definitely recommend if you go to Seattle but don’t want to stay in Seattle. So we had to drive into Seattle from our hotel to go to all of the things we wanted to see. The first thing we decided to go to was the Seattle Aquarium! Our drive was not so great. The traffic was terrible, parking was a horrific. I was angry, stressed, screaming at everyone on the road. Lol. Anyone who knows me knows my road rage. Chris was so calm, rubbed my back and just calmed me and helped me find parking. I think I was so annoyed because I had drove all the way to Seattle, then was doing all the driving in Seattle. Now, this was not because Chris didn’t want to. This was because I’m stubborn as fuck and wanted to do everything myself, and also because I had just got my license and my car not long before and this was my first big trip. Any who, later on I gave in and let Chris drive because I was tapped out.
We finally find parking, $20 for like an hour or two hours I can’t remember but it was something outrageous but also the only parking we could find so we had to take it. I didn’t research other transportation options before going to Seattle, which was obviously a big mistake. But anyways, we are walking towards the aquarium and this lady walks up to us gives us bracelets and necklaces and asks us to donate to her church and we can keep the jewelry for good luck. Chris opens his wallet and hands her like 5 or so bucks, she’s like “Oh no we need more, our church needs help!” Chris was like I’m sorry that’s all I have it’s her birthday this weekend the rest of my money is for her. As this lady has her hands all over his hands and his wallet, she snatches some of the jewelry back and walks away. We were in shock, cause she took the money he gave her too, or so we thought. We realized a little later, not only did she take back the jewelry but she TOOK A 20 DOLLAR BIIL as she was fiddling with his hands, the jewelry and wallet, instead of the 5 he gave her. He was so upset, I told him not to worry it was only twenty dollars. Sure it was a bit to lose and have nothing out of it, but it also wasn’t THAT big of a deal. We did end up tell this story often, because after the fact we died laughing about it when we would tell people.
So, we continue on to the Aquarium, this place was amazing! There was so much to see and do! I love animals so this was such an awesome experience. I took so many pictures and we even stopped to take some pictures together. We headed out to the dock when we were finished, we enjoyed the view. Looked out at the water and the Ferris wheel and took a few selfies.
After, we walked around the boardwalk just enjoying each others company and exploring downtown Seattle. It’s such a beautiful place really. We decided to check out the Argosy Harbor Tour. We ended up needing to schedule a tour time, so we did that and headed out to do some more exploring.
(Chris interacting with the activities at the aquarium lol!)
We headed over to Pike Place Market to check things out. I don’t even have words, freaking awesome! I was just amazed. So many cool things everywhere you looked. We explored a little bit before we decided to go back to the hotel, we were tired and decided not to go on the harbor tour. On our way back to the hotel we stopped by a grocery store to grab some dinner. When we got back to the hotel we were just having a chill night in and Chris surprised me with a cupcake and ice cream! Have I told ya’ll how I was falling for this man already? He was PERFECT. No exaggeration. He did whatever he could to make me happy from the very beginning.
Sunday, we decided we were going to go to the Museum of Pop Culture, The Pacific Science center and the Space needle if we could fit all three in before we had to head home! We went to the Pacific Science center first because I love science! It was kind if a cross between OMSI and The Children’s Museum in Portland. Definitely more for kids to do, but we still had a lot of fun! My birthday is in October, so they had the outside decorated for Halloween. My favorite part was the butterfly exhibit! OH MY GOD, so freaking awesome. A butterfly even landed on Chris’ hat! It was amazing!
(Chris & the butterfly :) )
We then headed over to the Museum of Pop Culture, Chris was most excited about this! If you knew Chris, you knew how he was with music, movies and all the things alike. He loved it all. We spent so long here, no complaints. It was a lot of fun AND seeing the joy in this man’s heart and on his face was worth it all, even though I enjoyed it all too. I especially enjoyed learning about all of the things I knew nothing about, that Chris was teaching me along the way through the museum. Like about Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and this man that was in there that I can’t remember what his name was. I grew up on R&B, rap and Hip hop, so all of this was new to me. LOL. but I was all ears listening to all Chris knew about these bands and how much he enjoyed all of these things. I loved learning new things about him and the things he loved.
(A few fun photos from MoPOP)
As we walked through the museum, we headed down a set of stairs….which lead to the best part of the museum, well in my opinion at least! The HORROR section! Anyone that knows me knows I love all things Halloween, horror and scary! I then got to tell Chris about all things horror, since he was never really into horror or scary movies before me.
We finished up the last little bit of the things in the museum then we headed out to check out the Space Needle. The Space Needle was in walking distance, so we just walked over, when we got over there was an enormous line. We decided to go grab a bite to eat, come back and check the line one more time before we headed home since it was getting late and we had a 3 -ish hour drive back home and still needed to get ready for the work week.
(We didn't get to go up, but I still go a picture for the road!)
There was still a huge line when we went back to check out the Space Needle to we just decided we’d do it next time and head on home so we didn’t get home too late. Chris drove most of the drive back, because I was just tapped out of driving at this point. We made it back home around 7 or 8pm, unpacked the car, relaxed for a little bit, said our goodbyes and he headed home.
This weekend was short, and it seemed to go by oh so fast, but it was so magical and by far the best birthday I’ve had. We both knew from the second time we saw each other at the bar at the birthday, while playing pool, that we were meant to be. But this weekend was the weekend that sealed the deal for both of us. I know people say often about how they love someone so much, or how good their spouse treats them, or how hard they fell, or how they just knew from the very first day. But let me tell you, I was completely okay with being single for the rest of my life. I had come to terms with it, like I was fine. I had found my happy medium and was happy with my life. Then Chris came along and completely changed my life for the better. He made me believe in love again. He made me love again. He brought my smile to life again. I found my soulmate, the love of my life, my life partner, my forever. “I may not get to spend the rest of MY life with him, but I am honored knowing that he got to spend the rest of his life with me.”
